The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 27-year-old Muhammad Garba Ladan in connection with the alleged murder of his four-month-old daughter, Fatimah Muhammad, in Azare’s Zirami community.
According to the police, the incident came to light after the infant’s mother reported leaving the child asleep in the room, only to return and find her unresponsive. The mother told investigators that she spotted her husband exiting the room moments before discovering the child’s condition.
The baby was rushed to the General Hospital in Azare, where attending medical personnel pronounced her dead and confirmed the cause of death as strangulation.
Command spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib stated that officers swiftly apprehended the suspect following the report to launch a formal investigation.
The case is currently being handled locally before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for a comprehensive inquiry.
