Bandits have reportedly demanded a N30 million ransom for the release of six Islamic clerics who were abducted in Zamfara State.
The clerics were seized after attending a special prayer session organized for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Conflict reporter D English Alhaji disclosed the development via a social media post on Tuesday, detailing the circumstances surrounding the abduction.
According to the report, the six Sheikhs were returning from a prayer session hosted by Senator Abdulaziz Yari, the lawmaker representing Zamfara West and Director-General of the APC campaign.
The abductors have since contacted authorities or associates, laying down a N30 million financial demand for the safe return of the religious leaders.
“These are the six Sheikhs that were abducted by bandits in Zamfara after attending special prayers session for Tinubu and APC, organised by the DG campaign for APC, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari,” the reporter stated.
“Bandits are now demanding N30 million ransom for their release,” he added.
Security agencies in Zamfara State have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident or confirm ongoing rescue efforts.
