A Nigerian lady has gone viral after sharing an emotional experience from a wedding she attended, revealing that a physically disabled man unexpectedly approached her and asked to marry her.
Speaking in a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lady said she had spent time and money preparing for the event, hoping to look her best. However, she never expected the encounter that left her in tears.
In her words, she said:
“I went to a wedding on Saturday. I was elegantly dressed. I did my hair, wore a very stylish outfit, fixed my nails, fixed my lashes, bought a new pair of shoes and a new bag. I went for the wedding.
At the reception hall, I was standing outside with some of the aso-ebi girls when this handicapped guy walked up to me and told me that he likes me. I didn’t want to be rude because he’s also human, so I decided to give him audience.”
The lady said she was stunned when the man expressed his intention to marry her, questioning why he singled her out despite the number of ladies at the event.
According to her, she couldn’t understand why the man chose her.
“He then said he wanted to marry me. I was like, of all the girls that are here, why me? Why did you choose me? The funny part was that I even wore my 18-carat, 4.5-gram gold bracelet. What did I do wrong? Upon all the sweet boys that came to the wedding,” he added.
Her video has since generated mixed reactions online, with some sympathising with her while others criticised her choice of words, saying the man simply expressed his feelings respectfully.
