  • The recording discusses a family disagreement regarding the singer’s burial.
  • The brother defends the singer’s widow, stating she should not be blamed for the conflict.

A voice note allegedly recorded by the younger brother of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings has surfaced online, shedding more light on the family disagreement surrounding the singer’s burial.

In the recording, the young man addressed the controversy, insisting that the singer’s widow should not be blamed for the ongoing family dispute. He maintained that she was never responsible for the disagreement and criticised those who had accused her without knowing the full story.

He said:

“I am here to clear the air. People have been saying what they don’t know. They have been blaming the wrong person. The woman has never been the issue from the start, stop blaming her.”

According to him, the disagreement dates back to Toluwanisings’ childhood, claiming that some members of their maternal family influenced the singer’s perception of his paternal relatives negatively.

He explained that their father made efforts to support the late singer financially throughout his education. However, despite eventually reconnecting with his father as an adult and contributing to his upkeep, Toluwanisings reportedly maintained a distant relationship with other members of his father’s family.

The younger brother recalled that their father once questioned the singer about his frequent absence from home, but he would usually attribute it to his busy work schedule.

He said:

“My father also did what he could do for Toluwanisings while he was going to school. When my father didn’t hear from him, my father called him to ask him why he has not been coming home, and he will always give an excuse that it is work.”

He further disclosed that despite the limited contact, Toluwanisings shared a cordial relationship with his step-siblings and had a particular soft spot for the family’s youngest child.

The brother also recalled an incident involving their grandmother, who had reportedly asked the late singer to buy her a goat for the Sallah celebration.

However, Toluwanisings allegedly declined the request, explaining that his Christian faith did not permit him to purchase the animal. His response reportedly upset their grandmother and left some family members feeling disrespected.

The voice note has since added another dimension to the ongoing controversy over the late singer’s burial, with his younger brother insisting that the widow should not be made the target of blame.
