The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, bringing weeks of anticipation to an end for nearly two million students across Nigeria.
The examination body announced the development on Wednesday via its official X account, confirming that candidates can now access their results through the WAEC result-checking portal after generating the required PIN and serial number.
According to WAEC, candidates must provide their examination number, the National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration and other required details to complete the verification process before viewing their results.
How candidates can check their WAEC 2026 results
Announcing the release, the examination body stated, “UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at waec.org and check your results now on waecdirect.org.”
The 2026 WASSCE was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with about 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools participating nationwide.
This year’s examination featured both the traditional paper-based format and the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) option, with more schools embracing the digital examination system than in previous years.
Candidates begin checking results
The release comes after WAEC had earlier indicated that the results would be made available approximately 45 days after the final examination paper.
The announcement has already sparked excitement among candidates, parents and schools nationwide as thousands begin logging onto the official portal to check their performance and plan their next academic steps.
