A Nigerian man has expressed concern over the early hours at which schoolchildren leave home, after spotting several school buses entering his estate to pick up pupils as early as 5:30 a.m.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man questioned the situation, expressing concern that children could spend years pursuing education only to face an uncertain future after graduation.
“This is just 5:30 a.m., and school buses are already entering my estate to pick up kids,” he said.
He expressed further surprise as more buses arrived one after another, noting that some parents were already waiting for the buses to collect their children.
“Another school bus is coming. See another one, and another one. That one has picked up the children and left, and another one is coming,” he added.
Man questions promises of a better future
The man also questioned the value of the sacrifices children make to obtain an education, recalling the promises of a better future that he said his generation received while growing up.
He lamented that children were waking up as early as 5:30 a.m. to attend school, yet there was no guarantee that their efforts would lead to the future they hoped for.
