Teenager recounts how he was hospitalized after father mistook his ‘wisdom’ for madness

A Nigerian teenager has shared a disturbing experience, claiming he was taken to a psychiatric hospital by his father after expressing what he described as deep insights about life.

According to him, many people in Nigeria often mistake intelligence and unusual thinking for madness, which he believes is one of the reasons the country is still struggling.

In his words, he said:

“The reason why Nigeria is still a third-world country is that people believe knowledge and wisdom is madness. They always think a child that has a large amount of wisdom is insane or possessed.”

The teen explained that he had tried to point out certain truths to his father, but instead of being understood, his actions were misinterpreted.

He alleged that the situation escalated quickly, leading to him being taken to a psychiatric facility, where he received treatment that affected him for weeks.

“At some point, I exposed some truth to my dad about himself. The next thing he did was take me to a psychiatric hospital, saying I was going insane. I got injected twice, and it affected me for two months, almost ending my career as a seer.”

He further claimed that such abilities would have been appreciated in another country like the US, adding that people with unique perspectives can contribute to national development if properly understood.

Many reactions have followed his confession. One user wrote, “This sounds deeper than it looks 🤔” Another added, “Not every ‘gift’ is what it seems, I understand the father’s fear.”
