Seyi Makinde: We Are All Members Of G5,We All Went Through It But It Went Wrong-Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has shared his thoughts on the inner workings of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), especially regarding the influence of the G5 governors, while speaking to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Fayose expressed these views in an interview on Channels Television, where he discussed the aftermath of the G5 coalition and how it affected the unity of the party. The G5, a collective of significant PDP governors, took controversial stances during the 2023 general elections, often differing from the main leadership of the party.

In the interview, Fayose stated, “Sir, I would like to mention that we are all part of the G5. We experienced it together, but it didn’t go well.” This comment seemed to recognize both his and Makinde’s roles in the group while showing disappointment over the way things turned out. His remark indicates that the political approach taken by the G5 may not have produced the desired results for its members or the party as a whole.

Fayose’s comments have sparked renewed conversations about the G5’s impact on the PDP. This group, which consisted of notable governors from the South, was perceived as a strong alliance at the time, yet its actions also led to internal rifts that influenced the party’s unity during the elections.

Governor Makinde, who is an important member of the G5, has not yet made any public remarks in response to Fayose’s latest statements. Political analysts believe that this remark may indicate a change in tone, with Fayose sounding more introspective rather than critical regarding the group’s earlier choices.
