Randrianirina was received by the Nigerian President as part of engagements aimed at strengthening relations between both African nations.
The Madagascan leader assumed office in October 2025 following a dramatic political transition in the island nation that resulted in the removal of former president Andry Rajoelina from power.
Prior to becoming president, Randrianirina commanded the CAPSAT army unit and played a prominent role in the events that culminated in the military takeover. He was among soldiers who mutinied and aligned with anti-government demonstrators before the military announced it had assumed control of the government after Rajoelina was impeached for desertion of duty.
Rajoelina subsequently fled the country, paving the way for the installation of a new administration headed by Randrianirina.
