Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has commissioned a modern market in Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area, promising to extend more critical infrastructure to riverine communities across the state.
Oborevwori, represented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, said the market was constructed to strengthen grassroots commerce, support small businesses and improve the livelihoods of residents.
The newly commissioned facility comprises 24 lock-up shops, 24 open shops, male and female restrooms, a solar-powered water scheme and landscaped surroundings.
The governor said the project was part of his administration’s efforts to provide a clean, safe and conducive environment for traders while boosting economic activities in riverine communities.
He urged community leaders and traders to take ownership of the facility and ensure proper maintenance to preserve it for long-term use.
Oborevwori also assured the people of Oporoza that their request for an extension of the market would be considered after the existing facility had been put to effective use.
The commissioning, according to the state government, underscored its commitment to improving infrastructure, promoting economic activities and enhancing the quality of life of residents in riverine communities.
