The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the names of 15 governorship candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general elections in Bauchi State.
However, INEC excluded the governorship candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Action Alliance (AA) and Accord Party (AP) from its final list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
In a final list of candidates and their running mates published on its official website on Saturday, the commission listed 15 candidates expected to contest the election to succeed Governor Bala Mohammed in 2027.
The exclusion means that the four political parties, whose candidates were earlier submitted to INEC, are not represented on the published list.
INEC listed Abdullahi Adamu as the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, with Shehu Imam as his running mate, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has Halliru Dauda Jika as its candidate and Samaila Mohammed Kabir as his running mate.

Similarly, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) will be represented by Yakubu Adamu, with Babamaji Mahmood as his running mate, according to INEC.
The Action Peoples Party (APP) has Kabiru Abdulhamid Shuwa as its governorship candidate and Yunusa Mamuda as his running mate, while the Labour Party (LP) will field Idris Aliyu Muhammad and Yilkat Samako as its candidate and running mate, respectively.
The commission also listed Kashim Ibrahim Muhammad as the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate, with Tata Alhaji as his running mate.
The National Democratic Party (NDP) has Haruna Muhammad Ningi as its candidate, with Shehu Usman Abdu as his running mate, while the National Rescue Movement (NRM) will field Muhammad Muhammad Zaharaddin and Kabiru Umar as its governorship candidate and running mate, respectively.
INEC also listed Adamu Usman Ahmed as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, with Alin Bababa Abdulkadir as his running mate.
The commission also listed Shehu Umar Buba as the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) governorship candidate, with Aliyu Tijjani Mohammed as his running mate.
The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has Aliyu Umar A.G. as its candidate, with Bello Buhari as his running mate, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) will contest with Lami BabaGeidam as its governorship candidate and Aliyu Shafiu Garba as his running mate.
The four parties missing from the final list had earlier submitted the names of their candidates and running mates to the commission.
The SDP had nominated Abdullahi Yakubu as its governorship candidate, with Yahaya Abubakar Maikobi as his running mate. The Action Alliance had submitted Musa Zubairu as its candidate and Shehu Buba as his running mate, while the NNPP nominated Ahmed Shuaibu as its governorship candidate, with Ismail Zailani as his running mate.
Similarly, the Accord Party had fielded Mohd Aminu Bauchin Bauchi as its governorship candidate and Daniel Meshack as his running mate.
However, their names were not included in the final list published by INEC.
The commission’s publication did not specify the reasons for their exclusion. It could not be independently established whether the omissions were connected to non-compliance with electoral requirements or other factors.
