The National Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Phase Two, Ibena Rufus Salvation, has dismissed reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) invited Niger Delta ex-militant leaders to a meeting in Abuja ahead of the planned November 2 protest, insisting that no such invitation was received.
Ibena said there had been no invitation from the DSS or any other security agency, stressing that the ex-militants had an established leadership structure through which official communications should be received and properly disseminated.
Reacting to the online report, he said any genuine invitation from a security agency would be formally communicated through the recognised leadership structure of the ex-militants.
He said, “There was no invitation from any quarters, not DSS, not any security agency. The ex-militants have a leadership structure, and if anyone writes as an invitation, it will be received and communicated properly.”
Ibena also cautioned genuine beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme against allowing individuals he described as fake and non-beneficiaries to mislead them into actions that could expose them to avoidable trouble.
He urged beneficiaries to remain focused, law-abiding and committed to their welfare, warning them not to allow themselves to be drawn into situations whose consequences they might find difficult to manage.
The PAP Phase Two chairman further called on genuine beneficiaries to sustain their support for the PAP Administrator and President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence in the leadership of the current administration.
