A man has narrated how he narrowly escaped a suspected kidnap attempt while travelling from Ibadan to Lagos along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Ajebo area of Ogun State.
The victim, who shared his experience on social media, said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. while he was driving through a section of the highway known for security concerns.
According to him, armed men suddenly emerged from the bush and attempted to force his vehicle to stop by throwing heavy objects onto the road.
“He threw objects directly at my car”
Recounting the terrifying experience, the man explained that he was able to escape after quickly maneuvering his vehicle despite the attackers’ efforts.
“One of them suddenly jumped out from the bush carrying two heavy objects, trying to force my car to stop. He threw the first one directly in front of my car while I was negotiating a bend, but I managed to swerve around it,” he said.
The man added that the attackers attempted a second strike before he accelerated away from the scene.
“I escaped alive but my car was damaged”
According to him, his vehicle suffered major damage during the escape.
“Before the others could position themselves, I brushed the main guy that attacked with my car and sped off. Thankfully, I escaped alive, but my bonnet, bumper, headlamps and fender were badly damaged,” he added.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has witnessed several reported robbery and kidnap incidents in recent years, prompting repeated calls for increased security patrols along the busy highway.
