The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been honoured at the agency’s 12th Chairman/Chief Executive Officer’s Commendations and Awards Ceremony.
Dateline Nigeria reports that the Kaduna command emerged as First Runner-Up in the category of “Diligent Prosecution and Highest Number of Convictions” at the ceremony held at the NDLEA National Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, retired Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, honoured and recognized commands and personnel that demonstrated excellence in the discharge of their duties over the past year.
In a statement by the Kaduna command, the State Commander, CN Maijama’a Muhammad, was specially commended for sustained efforts in ensuring that drug offenders are successfully prosecuted and convicted in court.
“This is a well deserved recognition and a testament to your unwavering commitment, dedication, professionalism and outstanding contributions to the fight against drug abuse, illicit substances and illicit trafficking,” the statement said.
The command, according to its spokesperson, S. Garba, ASN, noted that the award further demonstrates its unwavering commitment to excellence and service to Kaduna State, the nation, and to humanity at large.
Speaking at the event, Gen. Marwa charged officers to sustain the momentum in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking, stressing that diligence in investigation and prosecution remains critical to cutting off the supply and demand chain of illicit drugs.
The NDLEA awards ceremony is held annually to motivate personnel and commands that have recorded exceptional results in drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction across the country.
