Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo has taken to social media to announce her engagement to businessman Chukwudi Onuorah, months after she was mocked for owning properties while being single.
Recall that actor Zubby Michael had earlier mocked Okonkwo for owning properties and cars while unmarried.
“She has already scared away her potential husband. She already owns a house and a car, so what will the husband buy?” he said.
The 38-year-old actress countered Zubby’s stance, saying she wants to prioritise building herself and her life before seeking a partner, and hopes to be with someone equally established.
Rachael added that financial status should not determine whether to marry, questioning why she did not marry when she was hustling earlier in life.
“The idea is to be purposeful before partnership. Where I’m coming from is very dark, so I’m not looking for a poverty-alleviation relationship. I want to find myself and be with a man who has also found himself,” she said.
“If being poor is a yardstick for finding a good husband, why didn’t I get married when I was hustling, when I was roasting corn?”

In the video that surfaced on social media, the actress is seen flaunting her engagement ring while dressed in a black gown.
The actress, who held a bouquet of red roses, was seated in a room that appeared to be the proposal venue, with flower petals scattered around. She was also heard referring to Onuorah as “my billionaire baby”.
Checks showed that Okonkwo has added the businessman’s name to her Instagram bio, which now reads, “Rachael Okonkwo Chukwudi Onuorah”.
Onuorah, reportedly from Enugu State, is said to be a widower with five children and has a child with his baby mama.
