Tinubu 2027: Shettima woos Cross Riverians with more projects

Vice President Kashim Shettima has made the case for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election before a packed stadium in Calabar, telling Cross River residents that the President is rebuilding the country rather than disappointing it.

Speaking on Monday at the APC’s presidential campaign rally in the state capital, Shettima said the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is steadily reshaping Nigeria, and asked the people of Cross River to reward it with their votes in 2027 so that more projects can reach the state.

He pointed to reforms the government describes as painful but unavoidable, to road infrastructure such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and to programmes meant to widen opportunities for youths and women.

The Vice President singled out Cross River as a state of unusual importance to the national economy, citing its endowments in tourism, farming, sea trade and commerce across the sub-region. Those assets, he argued, make continued support for Tinubu a matter of the state’s own interest.

“Cross River State occupies a strategic position in Nigeria’s economic and political landscape, with enormous potential in tourism, agriculture, maritime commerce and regional trade,” he said.

Shettima’s day in Calabar began at Margaret Ekpo International Airport, where Governor Bassey Otu, Senator Abdulaziz Yari and other party leaders received him. He then went to the palace of the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, to pay his respects, before heading to the stadium, where a large crowd of supporters had gathered.

The visit is part of the APC’s nationwide campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
