A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions after narrating her alleged experience with police officers after she and her colleague were reportedly arrested while returning home from work.
According to her, the incident happened around 8 a.m. when officers allegedly raided the area, seized their phones, and took them alongside other people to a police station despite finding nothing illegal on them.
Narrating the ordeal, she said:
“Nigeria happened to me yesterday after I was going home from work. When I asked why they arrested me, they slapped me.”
The lady claimed she was later placed in a cell with other men and allegedly asked to pay a large sum of money before she and her colleague could regain their freedom.
She further alleged that after pleading for a lower amount, they were forced to sign a statement claiming no extortion took place before they were released.
“They told me to bring ₦200,000. I had to beg for ₦100,000 for me and my colleague. I’m traumatized,” she added.
Her story has added to ongoing conversations online about alleged police harassment, unlawful detention, and extortion in the country.
