Ilorin Emir Urges Nigerians to Uphold Unity at 66

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has urged Nigerians to uphold national unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The monarch said Nigeria’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity remains a major strength that should be harnessed to promote national development rather than become a source of division.

In a goodwill message issued on Thursday by his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, Sulu-Gambari expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for sustaining Nigeria’s unity despite the challenges the country has faced since independence.

He described the anniversary as an opportunity for sober reflection and renewed commitment to nation-building.

“ Our diversity should be seen as a source of strength, not division. We must continue to live together in peace, tolerance and mutual respect,” the Emir said.

Sulu-Gambari also called on Nigerians to remain patriotic and support governments at all levels in their efforts to build a more prosperous and secure country.

He prayed for lasting peace, economic growth and continued progress in the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Emir congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the Independence anniversary and expressed hope that the country would enjoy more years of peace, stability and development.
