President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to hold meetings with political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s aircraft is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos later in the day.
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation, spending a week in London before travelling to Paris.
The Presidency said the President chose to travel to Lagos first to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 1993 presidential election and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s pro-democracy movement.
Tinubu is also expected to attend the October 1 premiere of a film celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
During his stay in Lagos, the President is expected to hold what the Presidency described as “strategic meetings” with political leaders and associates in preparation for the 2027 elections.
His working vacation in Europe included a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as meetings with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group.
On Monday, Tinubu also met with businessman Femi Otedola, chairman of First Holdings.
Last week, the President witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and a Blue Marine Economic Zone. The project is expected to attract a $7 billion investment from DP World, according to the Presidency.
Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Lagos.
