Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Chisom Okafor, and five other suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area.
The raid was carried out on the evening of Thursday, 13th August 2026, based on credible intelligence and in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to target identified black spots and criminal hideouts.
Other suspects arrested are: Onyedika Moses, 36; Iruka Nwaonu, 30; Joseph Nwankwo, 36; Chukwujekwu Nwoso, 32; and Akanimo Orok, 40.
During the operation, police said they recovered a sizeable quantity of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and other substances believed to be illicit drugs, with an estimated street value of N4 million.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, said the Command remains committed to intelligence-led operations and coordinated raids to dismantle drug networks and deny criminals safe havens in the state.
He directed that raids on drug-selling spots and other criminal locations be intensified and sustained.
All suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court on completion of investigations.
