Family of abducted newlywed cries out to Nigerians over N10m ransom

The family of one of the people kidnapped along the Kwara-Kogi border is asking Nigerians to help raise N10 million to free a newlywed couple and four others.

Praise Alonge made the appeal. His younger brother, Precious Alonge, is one of those being held.

On Saturday, Praise shared on Facebook that his brother has been held by the kidnappers for a week.

He wrote, “My immediate younger brother, Precious Alonge, has been in kidnappers’ den for a week now. Please, help us release him and other victims.”

He said the family is asking the public to help raise N10 million for their rescue.

The victims were kidnapped last Saturday evening on the Eruku-Iyemero road, which is on the border between Kogi and Kwara states.

Reports say they were returning from an engagement ceremony in Eruku when the attack happened.

The vehicle was supposed to take the Isanlu Road, but the driver chose a back route to drop off the best man and others in Iyamoye, Kogi State.

Later, police found the vehicle abandoned at an old police station in Ayetoro, Ekiti State.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the incident and said soldiers have been sent to search the bush for the victims.

He added that police from the three affected states are working together on the rescue because the crime happened near border communities.
