CISLAC, Transparency International deepen partnership with NSCDC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has further strengthened its international anti-corruption credentials as the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Transparency International–Defence and Security (TI-DS) reaffirmed their commitment to partner with the Corps on transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity.

A joint delegation from CISLAC and TI-DS, led by CISLAC’s Mr. Abubakar Jimoh and TI-DS Programme Manager Mr. Yi Kang Choo, paid a courtesy visit to the NSCDC Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the National Headquarters, Abuja, on Tuesday.

They were received by the Head of ACTU, Commandant Audrey Obe, who reiterated the Corps’ commitment to deepening accountability mechanisms and sustaining integrity-driven reforms under Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

Discussions during the engagement centered on strengthening integrity systems, enhancing accountability frameworks, and advancing capacity development initiatives to promote good governance within the security sector.

Both parties also reviewed ongoing areas of cooperation and explored additional measures for building institutional resilience against corruption.

CISLAC and TI-DS commended NSCDC for strides recorded in promoting transparency and institutional accountability. They reaffirmed support for initiatives that advance ethical leadership and align with global best practices in security governance.

“The engagement further underscores the NSCDC’s growing profile as a credible partner in integrity-based security sector reforms and its commitment to fostering public trust through transparency, accountability, and professional service delivery,” the Corps said in a statement signed by National Public Relations Officer, ACC Babawale Afolabi.

The renewed partnership is expected to boost NSCDC’s ongoing reforms aimed at ensuring accountability in operations and building public confidence in the Corps.
