Bauchi Gov Bala honoured with SCIRA 2026 award for excellence in healthcare

The Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has received another prestigious national recognition for his outstanding performance in health and infrastructure at the States Competitiveness and Investment Readiness Awards (SCIRA) 2026.

The award ceremony, organized by the reputable BusinessDay newspaper, was held at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites.

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, received the “Outstanding Governor on Health Infrastructure” award on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed.

Speaking with reporters after the ceremony, the Commissioner described the award as one in a series of recognitions bestowed on the governor.

He said it is a testament to Governor Bala’s transformational leadership, visionary governance, and people-oriented policies that continue to drive sustainable development and improve the lives of Bauchi residents.

Usman explained that the governor was honoured for sustained investments in the health sector, including the expansion and upgrading of healthcare facilities, enhancement of medical infrastructure, and ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery across urban and rural communities.

He noted that the event brought together senior government officials, development partners, policymakers, and private sector leaders. It served as a national platform for assessing sub-national performance in governance, infrastructure delivery, and investment readiness.

The Commissioner said the recognition affirms the administration’s focus on strengthening the health sector as a key pillar of development in Bauchi State. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining reforms and expanding access to quality healthcare services for all citizens.

According to Usman, the SCIRA Awards evaluate states based on measurable indicators of governance performance, infrastructure delivery, and economic competitiveness, providing a benchmark for sub-national development across Nigeria.

He added that since assuming office, Governor Bala Mohammed has consistently prioritized the health sector as a cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda. Under his leadership, Bauchi State has recorded significant improvements in healthcare delivery through the construction and renovation of hospitals, upgrading of medical facilities, procurement of modern equipment, and expansion of access to essential services in both urban and rural areas.

“This recognition serves as a testament to the governor’s visionary leadership and his determination to build a resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of the people,” Usman said. “It also reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of location or social status, has access to quality and affordable healthcare.”

He expressed appreciation to the organizers for recognizing the strides recorded by the Bauchi State Government. He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to sustain the momentum of development and continue implementing policies that improve the welfare and well-being of the people.

“This latest honour adds to the growing list of accolades received by Governor Bala Mohammed and further reinforces his reputation as a leader dedicated to delivering impactful governance, strengthening public institutions, and advancing sustainable development across Bauchi State,” the Commissioner said.

“The award is not only a recognition of achievements already recorded, but also an encouragement to continue pursuing excellence in healthcare infrastructure and service delivery for the benefit of present and future generations.”
