The Senate on Wednesday swore in four newly elected senators who emerged victorious in the June 20 senatorial by-elections conducted across different parts of the country.
The lawmakers were administered the oath of office by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The newly inaugurated senators are:
Dayo Faduyile – Ondo South Senatorial District (APC)
Danladi Envulu-Anza – Nasarawa North Senatorial District (APC)
Ikeje Asogwu – Enugu North Senatorial District (APC)
Olaka Nwogu – Rivers South East Senatorial District (PDP)
Three of the lawmakers were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while one was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Faduyile replaced Jimoh Ibrahim, who vacated the seat following his appointment as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

The remaining three senators were elected to fill vacancies created by the deaths of the former occupants of their respective seats.
