The people of Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama local government area of Kwara State have asked governments to provide financial empowerment to rescued victims of banditry in the areas.
Speaking with journalists after a visit to ascertain the condition of some of the 163 rescued victims of banditry in the area, the community leader of Woro, Alhaji Umar Bio Salihu, said that the people need government support to find their feet again.
The community leader, who praised the government on some steps taken by the government to alleviate suffering caused by insecurity, said such steps had fostered peace and unity among the citizens.
“Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is a God-fearing leader and knows where shoes pinch his people. As part of his administration’s commitment, he has constructed 10 new shops, the Chief’s Palace, restored electricity, repaired hand pumps and motorised boreholes, and renovated the healthcare centre to boost living standards”.
The community leader, however, implored the present administration to empower the victims financially in order to strengthen their businesses, asking government to construct other shopping complexes, etc.
The people applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and chairman of the council area, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Danladi Bio, on the security intervention following the recent killing of over 160 lives, and destruction of property worth millions of naira.
The monarch appreciated the federal government for the deployment of Army Battalion to curb the menace of the criminals.
The community leader, particularly, commended Governor Abdulrazaq-led administration for the support and contributions in addressing the security concerns affecting the area.
He also praised the governor for the feeding, medical treatment and financial support to the victims aimed at improving their well-being.
He thanked the security operatives comprising the Army, Police, NSCDC, Vigilantes, Forest Guards etc, for their efforts aimed at ensuring peaceful coexistence, while urging them to continue.
Also speaking, the community leader of Nukku, Mallam Ibrahim Shuaib Sanni, thanked the federal, state and local governments for their efforts on rescue of the victims.
He lauded the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Shehu Muazu Omar and the entire Kaiama emirate for their support and positive contributions aimed at ensuring lives and property of citizens were protected.
Sanni also hailed the security operatives for their contributions toward safeguarding of lives and property of the people, appealing to them to sustain the tempo.
“It is our fervent belief that continued support from the government and security agencies would help guarantee our safety at all times”.
Earlier, the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Shehu Muazu Omar, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the entire Kaiama local government council for improved security aimed at protecting lives and property of the people.
The royal father commended the combined effort of the security operatives toward checking nefarious activities of hoodlums in the area.
“The issue of security should not be compromised at all times because it fosters peace and tranquility in the society.
He, however, implored the government of Kwara State to continue with its appreciable roles towards ensuring security consciousness among people and provide financial support and other empowerment, completion of 20 shopping complexes and so on for the victims.
