Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the appointment of new officials to lead the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board ahead of the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The appointments, which take effect immediately, followed the elevation of the Emir of Lere and the Emir of Gamawa from district heads to emirate stools.
Ambassador Sulaiman Santuraki, the District Head of Tirwun, has been appointed chairman of the board, while the District Head of Gamawa, Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Ahmed, popularly known as Chiroman Gamawa, will serve as deputy chairman.
The governor also appointed the Emir of Lere, Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba, as the state’s Amirul Hajj for the 2027 pilgrimage.
Jumba previously served as chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board before his elevation to the emirate stool.
In a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Mohammed commended the outgoing chairman and members of the board for their contributions to the administration of Hajj affairs and the welfare of pilgrims in Bauchi State.

The governor also acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers to the development of the state and congratulated the newly appointed board chairman and his deputy.
Mohammed urged the new leadership to bring their experience and dedication to bear in carrying out their responsibilities, while wishing them wisdom and success in their new positions.
