AIG UZUEGBU DIES AFTER BATTLE WITH CANCER

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, has passed away after a battle with cancer.

The announcement was made by Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, during an event in Umuahia, the state capital.

Reacting to the loss, the governor expressed sadness over the death of the senior police officer, describing him as a dedicated, hardworking and committed officer who served Nigeria with professionalism and unwavering dedication throughout his career.

Governor Otti also offered prayers for the repose of the late AIG’s soul and asked God to grant his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the fortitude to cope with the painful loss.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of the deceased police chief at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, where the governor made the announcement.

The passing of AIG Uzuegbu has cast a shadow of grief over the police community in Zone 9 and beyond, with officers, associates and stakeholders reflecting on his years of distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force.
