3 reasons why I may reject marriage proposal from Deputy Governor’s son — Lady

A woman has sparked debate on social media after revealing that she is considering a marriage proposal from the son of a deputy governor in Western Nigeria despite describing him as kind, responsible and intelligent.

According to the lady, she met the man through his sister while she was in Canada and he was in the United Kingdom.

Their friendship reportedly grew over time, with the suitor also becoming close to her brothers.

Concerns over religion and cultural differences

Sharing her dilemma online, the woman said the man possesses many admirable qualities, including being smart, handsome and calm.

However, she identified three major concerns that are making her hesitant about accepting his proposal.

The first issue is religion. She explained that the man is a Muslim while she is a Christian and has no intention of changing her faith.

“He’s a Muslim, while I’m a Christian, and I intend to remain one. Changing my faith isn’t part of my plans at all. I love my Jesus Christ,” she said.

Her second concern is language and cultural compatibility.

She noted that she values being able to communicate in her partner’s native language and has always envisioned speaking her dialect with her future children.

Age difference raises doubts

The third issue is their age gap. According to the woman, she is a year older than the deputy governor’s son, a situation she admitted she has never imagined in marriage.

She said she has always pictured herself marrying an older man whom she could naturally see as the leader of the home.

The lady ended her post by asking social media users for their opinions, prompting mixed reactions, with some urging her to follow her convictions while others argued that love and compatibility matter more than differences in age, religion or language.
