2027: Makinde takes presidential campaign to Nasarawa

…engages North-Central stakeholders

The presidential candidate of the Action Peoples’ Movement (APM) and Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Sunday arrived in Nasarawa State as part of efforts to galvanise support among key stakeholders in the North Central geopolitical zone.

The visit is ahead of the formal flag-off of the party’s presidential campaign in Lafia, the state capital on Monday.

Governor Makinde, who was received by a large crowd of supporters in Akwanga Local Government Area on his way to Lafia, the state capital, was led by the party’s governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo.

According to the programme of events, the APM presidential candidate is scheduled to hold a town hall meeting on Monday in Lafia.

Supporters who welcomed him were drawn from Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Niger, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory, including a solidarity group from Bauchi State loyal to Governor Bala Mohammed.

Speaking to journalists, a coordinator of the campaign in the state who pleaded anonymity said Makinde will during the visit unveil his campaign structure in the state to set the stage for full political mobilisation.

Similarly, an associate of the governorship candidate in the state said the party’s “Reset Nigeria Agenda” was designed to overhaul the nation’s socio-economic architecture, adding that Makinde has the capacity, energy and credentials to rebuild the country.

It would be recalled that last week, the APM presidential hopeful unveiled his “Reset Nigeria Agenda” with promises of far-reaching reforms in the economy, education, security and governance if elected in 2027.

Speaking at the Makinde/Daura 2027 Presidency North-West Zonal Town Hall in Katsina, he said Nigeria could only attain sustainable development through issue-based politics and leadership anchored on constitutional democracy.

He listed four key pillars of his proposed administration, noting that the economy must be made more productive and competitive through investments in skills, knowledge and round-the-clock economic activities.
