For many young Nigerians looking for a career in the military, an announcement of Nigerian Navy recruitment is more than just another government notice.
It can represent a chance to build a career, serve the country and become part of one of Nigeria’s armed services.

The Nigerian Navy has announced its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School, with online registration scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

Who is eligible to apply?
The recruitment is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who meet the conditions set out by the Nigerian Navy.
Applicants must have a National Identification Number, NIN, and must satisfy the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.
The Navy also requires candidates to be medically, psychologically and physically fit.
Applicants must not have any previous criminal conviction.
There are also minimum height requirements.
Male applicants must be at least 1.69 metres tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.65 metres.
What are the requirements for O’Level applicants?
For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, the Navy requires applicants to be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.
Candidates must also have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, obtained in not more than two sittings.
However, the recruitment is not limited to applicants with only O’Level qualifications.
The guidelines also make provisions for candidates with OND and NCE certificates, tradesmen, applicants in medical-related professions and sportsmen and sportswomen.
The specific requirements vary depending on the category under which a candidate is applying.
The application process
The first step for interested candidates is to complete the application online through the Nigerian Navy’s official recruitment portal when the exercise opens.
The application window begins on October 2 and closes on October 31, 2026.
Candidates are expected to provide accurate information during registration and should carefully follow the instructions contained in the recruitment guidelines.
After completing the online application, successful applicants will be expected to print important documents required for subsequent stages of the exercise.
These include the acknowledgment form, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form.
The Navy said details concerning the recruitment examination, including the date and venues, would be communicated to applicants at a later stage.
One application per candidate
There is an important warning for applicants who may be tempted to submit multiple applications in the hope of increasing their chances.
The Navy said only one valid application is permitted.
Its recruitment guideline states that multiple online applications will result in disqualification.
Applicants should therefore ensure that their details are correctly entered before submitting their forms.
Perhaps one of the most important parts of the recruitment announcement is the Navy’s warning about fraudulent recruitment agents.
The service said the entire recruitment process is free and warned applicants not to give money to anyone claiming to have connections or influence within the Navy.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy stated.
In other words, anyone demanding money in exchange for securing a place in the recruitment exercise is not acting on behalf of the official process.

When does registration begin?
The 2026 Nigerian Navy recruitment application portal will open on October 2, 2026.
