Winner of Dangote football competition to get N500,000 prize – Official

Patrick Omokhagbor, the Stakeholders Management of Okpella Cement PLC, says the winner of the maiden edition of the Uhumuyon Football Competition would go home with a cash prize of N500,000.

Mr Omokhagbor disclosed this at the opening of the held at Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo, on Tuesday.

Mr Omokhagbor said the football competition tagged “Unity Competition is being sponsored by the cement company with the aim of developing sport at the grassroots level.

“The maiden edition of the Uhumuyon football fiesta is to unite the eight communities in Uhumuyon Clan of Okpella.

“The first prize is N500, 000 with a trophy, second prize N300, 000 with a trophy while the third position gets N200, 000 with a trophy,” Omokhagbor said.

The director said that sport all over the world is a major activity that can unite citizens.

He urged youths to be active to sport and call on other communities and local governments to key into sporting activities.

In his remark, the Director of Plant, Okpella cement, Ray Uttam said the competition is part of the company’s social responsibility to the host community.

“This is a way to get connected with the communities.We believe in sport as a way to unite the host communities,” Uttam said.

Earlier, the Youth Secretary of Okpella, Sunday Afiabor thanked Dangote company for sponsoring the competition.

Mr Afiabor appealed to the youths to conduct themselves well and ensure peace reign   throughput the football competition.

The opening between Utegie Fc and Calaba FC ended 1-1.
