Troops neutralise two, clear terrorist camp in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army under operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed two suspected terrorists and dismantled a camp during a clearance operation in Zamfara state.

An operational report obtained on Tuesday said the mission, conducted on Monday, targeted the Bagega–Sunke forest corridor, a known hideout for armed groups.

According to the report, the troops swept through several locations, including Maikwanuga village in Talata Mafara LGA, and Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, as well as Tungar Magaji in Maradun Local Government Area.

The report noted that troops encountered resistance at Tungar Magaji but overpowered the insurgents.

“Troops made contact with the terrorists at Tungar Magaji, forcing them to withdraw due to superior firepower. Two terrorists were neutralised during the encounter,” the report stated.

It added that one AK-47 rifle bearing registration number NE 3774, a magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.

The army said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dislodge criminal elements and restore security across affected communities in the state.
