No fewer than 100 passengers escaped death on Thursday as an aircraft operated by Enugu Air skidded off the runway at Benin Airport during landing.
The airline confirmed the incident in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to the statement, all passengers and crew members safely disembarked from the aircraft, “with no injuries or casualties recorded”.
Enugu Air added that the aircraft has been secured, while relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures.
“An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway,” the airline said.
“As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.”
The airline reiterated that the safety of its passengers, crew and operations remains its top priority, noting that further updates will be communicated through its official channels.
