“No Degree Of Rigging Can Silence The Will Of The People” — Obi’s Camp Warns Governors Against Manipulating 2027 Elections

The Peter Obi Media Office has warned state governors against alleged plans to manipulate the 2027 general elections, declaring that Nigerians will resist any attempt to undermine the credibility of the electoral process or impose leaders against the will of the electorate.

The office accused some governors of engaging in covert efforts to compromise the democratic process rather than concentrating on their records of performance, achievements and service to the people.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and signed by its spokesman, Indris Zekeri Jnr., the media office maintained that Nigerians would reject any electoral process that failed to meet the standards of freedom, fairness and transparency.

The statement, titled “Nigerians Will Choose the Best Product in the Marketplace,” cautioned political officeholders against treating leadership as an entitlement that could be retained through intimidation, deceit or electoral manipulation.

According to the media office, the increasing desperation of some governors ahead of the 2027 elections raises concerns about their commitment to democratic principles and the right of Nigerians to freely choose their leaders.

“The Peter Obi Media Office has become aware of a series of covert efforts by state governors to undermine the democratic process. It once again cautions that any process that falls short of free, fair, and transparent elections will fail, as Nigerians will resist it,” the statement said.

The office argued that political leaders seeking another mandate should present their achievements to voters and allow Nigerians to determine whether they deserve to remain in office.

It accused some governors of concentrating on strategies for electoral manipulation instead of addressing the country’s challenges and demonstrating their capacity to govern.

“The Media Office reminds the governors that, regardless of their fraudulent efforts, they are presenting a poor product, and Nigerians will select the best option available in the market.

“We therefore condemn the increasing desperation of these governors, who, instead of presenting their records of service, performance, and achievements, are turning to electoral manipulation and safeguards for rigging,” it stated.

The media office maintained that political leadership must be earned through public confidence, accountability and service rather than through interference with the electoral process.

It insisted that elected officials had a responsibility to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate and should not seek to remain in power through actions capable of undermining democratic institutions.

“Leadership is a privilege earned through service; it is not a mandate to retain power through deceit, intimidation, or interference with the democratic process,” the statement added.

The office further argued that Nigerians had become increasingly dissatisfied with political leaders who had failed to meet their expectations, maintaining that the electorate would use the 2027 elections to demand accountability.

It described the forthcoming general elections as a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic development, expressing confidence that Nigerians would insist on exercising their constitutional right to choose their leaders.

“Nigerians have had enough and remain determined to reject undeserving leaders who have failed them.

“The 2027 election will be a defining moment for our nation. Nigerians are resolved to reclaim their country through the power of their votes.

“Let it be known that no degree of rigging, intimidation, or political manoeuvring can permanently silence the will of the people,” the statement declared.

The media office also maintained that the legitimacy of political leadership must ultimately derive from the consent of the governed, warning against attempts to substitute political influence or electoral interference for the genuine choice of voters.

It urged political leaders to respect the sovereignty of the electorate and allow Nigerians to make their decisions through a credible electoral process.

Turning to the political prospects of the former Anambra State Governor, the office reiterated its position that Peter Obi remained the preferred presidential choice of many Nigerians.

It described Obi as a leader with the competence, capacity, character, compassion and commitment required to address the country’s challenges.

According to the statement, Obi represents what the office considers a credible alternative capable of restoring national dignity, prosperity and hope.

“Peter Obi continues to be the people’s preferred choice because he embodies the strongest offering in the political arena: a leader defined by competence, capacity, character, compassion, and commitment, capable of raising Nigeria from its current condition and restoring its dignity, prosperity, and hope,” it stated.

The office maintained that the final decision on who should govern Nigeria rests with the electorate and not with political officeholders seeking to influence the outcome of elections.

“The mandate rests with the people. Nigeria must function again, and it will be OK,” the statement concluded.
