“Some OGs don’t deserve respect” – Peller fires back at Ycee over ‘Peller culture’ criticism

Popular streamer and content creator Peller has fired back at rapper Ycee after the music star criticised what he described as “Peller culture” in Nigeria.

Earlier, in a viral interview, Ycee lamented that Nigerian society was no longer celebrating academic excellence, claiming that many young people now believe they can become successful by doing “dumb things” online because such content attracts views, engagement, and money.

Reacting to the remarks, Peller appeared unimpressed by Ycee’s comments and questioned the rapper’s criticism of content creators.

“Some OGs don’t deserve respect. This kind Ycee man, now see wetin elderly man dey talk. You people bring music promotion to the so-called olodo, na the same people una dey promote and beg with small money,” he wrote.

Peller argued that many musicians who criticise online creators still rely on influencers and streamers to promote their songs and boost their visibility.

He further suggested that content creators have become an important part of the entertainment industry, helping artistes reach wider audiences through social media platforms.

“Na online una sabi give money. When una wan promote music, na still these same people una dey run come meet,” he added.

The exchange has sparked debate online, with some supporting Ycee’s concerns about education, while others backed Peller, insisting that content creation has become a legitimate career path.

The clash between both entertainers continues to generate reactions as fans weigh in on the growing influence of social media creators in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
