POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED CABLE VANDALS IN DELTA

The operation also led to the recovery of vandalised electric cables believed to have been stolen by the suspects.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the development in a statement issued to journalists in Warri on Saturday.

According to the PPRO, “On June 25, 2026, at about 1030hrs, operatives of Kwale Police Station, in a combined effort with members of the vigilante group, acting on credible intelligence that suspected vandals were dismantling and stealing electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road, swiftly mobilised to the scene.”

He added, “Upon sighting the team, the suspects attempted to evade arrest.

“During the ensuing operation, one of the suspects sustained injury and is presently receiving treatment at the hospital, while one of the suspects is in custody.

“The suspects were later identified as Osakwe Sunday (28yrs) and Ekene Obocha (34yrs).

“The vandalised electric cables has been recovered as exhibits.”

Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, warned individuals involved in vandalising public infrastructure to abandon such criminal activities, stressing that the command would continue to track down, arrest and prosecute offenders.

The police commissioner also appealed to residents to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information that could assist law enforcement agencies in preventing crime across the state.
