RIVERS POLICE NAB SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER, RECOVER GUNS AND LIVE AMMUNITION

This was revealed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Command, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, psc, mnips, fcia. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command moved swiftly and arrested the suspect, identified as Austine Emenike, popularly known as “Oyibo,” from Aluu Village in Rivers State.

Items recovered from the suspect included one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns and five live cartridges.

The police disclosed that preliminary investigations have linked the suspect to a wider criminal network. Investigators are currently pursuing fresh leads to identify and apprehend other members of the gang while also uncovering the full extent of their criminal activities.

Commending the operatives for the successful operation, CP Adepoju praised their courage, professionalism and dedication to duty, stressing that the command remains committed to ensuring criminals have no safe haven in Rivers State.

According to the Commissioner, “This arrest and the recovery of these dangerous weapons underscore our resolve to proactively tackle violent crime and protect the law-abiding people of Rivers State. We will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations until criminal elements are completely rooted out.”

The Commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious by promptly reporting suspicious persons, movements or activities to the police. He emphasized that public cooperation and credible intelligence remain indispensable in the collective effort to build a safer and more secure Rivers State.
