The achievement has drawn praise from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who described the victory as a reflection of the academy’s strong commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and intellectual growth.
The RIL Campus Crown Awards is a youth-focused initiative that provides students with opportunities to showcase their talents through debates, sporting activities, and other programmes aimed at promoting leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, and responsible citizenship.
In the highly competitive debate contest, the Police Academy cadets distinguished themselves with their eloquence, analytical reasoning, confidence, and public speaking abilities. Their performance saw them outperform participants from universities and other higher institutions within the state to claim the top prize.
Reacting to the accomplishment, the IGP said the victory underscores the effectiveness of the academy’s academic and leadership training programmes. He noted that intellectual capacity remains a vital requirement for modern policing and commended the cadets for projecting the institution and the Nigeria Police Force positively.
He further encouraged them to maintain the values of excellence, discipline, and professionalism that contributed to their success.
The winning team was later received by the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Patrick A. Atayero, who congratulated the cadets for bringing honour to the institution.
According to the Commandant, the achievement demonstrates the academy’s dedication to producing police officers who possess not only professional competence but also the intellectual capacity required to effectively serve the nation.
He urged other cadets to remain committed to both academic and extracurricular activities, assuring them of the academy’s continued support in developing their talents and leadership potential.
Atayero also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the academy’s vision of becoming a world-class institution renowned for professional policing, leadership development, and academic excellence.
The Inspector-General extended his congratulations to the commandant, management, staff, and cadets of the academy, expressing confidence in their ability to achieve even greater success in future competitions.
The Nigeria Police Force said it remains committed to strengthening educational and leadership development programmes within its institutions as part of efforts to build a highly professional, knowledge-driven, and service-oriented police force capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
