According to police sources, the rescue mission led to a fierce gun battle between operatives and the kidnappers, during which two suspected members of the gang were neutralised. Two firearms were also recovered from the suspects.
Mrs John-Paul, who is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her children were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, while she was reportedly taking the boys to school.
Sources within the Force revealed that sustained intelligence gathering, strategic tracking, and continuous pressure mounted on the kidnappers forced them into a confrontation with security operatives, paving the way for the victims’ rescue.
The source further disclosed that security personnel have intensified efforts to track down other members of the kidnapping syndicate. Some of the fleeing suspects are believed to have escaped with gunshot injuries sustained during the operation.
Meanwhile, search operations are ongoing in nearby areas as police continue the manhunt for the remaining members of the gang.
