Oyo Extends Curfew in 10 LGAs Amid Park-Side Insecurity

The Oyo State Government has extended by 24 hours the 48-hour curfew imposed on ten local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park, pushing the restriction through to Saturday.

Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Babatunde, announced the extension in a memo issued on Thursday evening in Ibadan. The curfew, initially declared on Tuesday, runs daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and now spans 72 hours in total.

The affected councils are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba. The measure forms part of the state’s ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and other security threats affecting communities around the national park.
