Owhelogbo in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State was agog as the G6 Campaign Group mobilised stakeholders and supporters for the 2027 election, urging them to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The group, one of the support groups within the APC, also canvassed support for Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District; Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, representing Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency; and Hon. Frank Ozue, the APC candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly.
The conveners of G6, in separate remarks, commended the people of Owhelogbo for their support for the APC and urged them to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.
One of the conveners, the Vice Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Prof. Samuel Aghalino, urged the people to sustain their support for the party and its candidates.
Also speaking, another convener and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Monitoring, Chief Mike Ogwah, urged eligible voters to ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards and use them to participate actively in the 2027 elections.
Ogwah particularly urged those yet to collect their PVCs to take advantage of the ongoing electoral process and obtain their cards ahead of the elections.
Another convener, Dr Patrick Akporuno, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, recalled Owhelogbo’s prominent role in the political affairs of Isoko North, saying internal divisions had weakened the community’s political influence over the years.
Akporuno, a renowned mathematician, urged the people to close ranks and speak with one voice in support of the APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
“We cannot say we have not gotten the dividends of democracy. We have several appointees. Above all, we have Prof Aghalino, who was recently appointed Vice Chancellor by our Governor. So, we must show gratitude and vote,” he said.
The mobilisation attracted a large crowd of party supporters and community members, with supporters displaying solidarity for the various candidates amid music, dancing and exchanges of banters.
