A devastating rainstorm accompanied by fierce winds has destroyed more than 200 houses, shops, and other property in Dangamau community, Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State, displacing numerous families.
Governor Dikko Radda has expressed deep sympathy for the victims, describing the incident as painful and unfortunate. In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed, the governor assured affected residents of the government’s unwavering support.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Katsina State, I sympathise with the victims of this disaster in Dangamau. We share your pain and will not abandon you at this difficult time,” Mr Radda said.
The governor has directed relevant government agencies to conduct an immediate assessment of the damage to facilitate swift intervention. He confirmed that arrangements are underway to provide emergency relief materials, including food, shelter, and other essential necessities, to those affected.
“Efforts are in top gear to bring succour to the displaced persons. Food, shelter and other necessities will be provided without delay,” he added.
Mr Radda urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency response teams as the government works to restore normalcy. He also offered prayers for the safety of the community and appealed for divine protection against future occurrences.
