Operation FANSAN YAMMA crushes Lakurawa Terrorists in Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have routed Lakurawa terrorist groups operating in Kebbi State, recovering a substantial cache of high-calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices, according to Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.

The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA stated that the success stems from sustained offensive operations aimed at eliminating terrorism and criminality across the North-West region.

The decisive offensive, which occurred on 14 June 2026 in the Dogon Daji general area of Dandi Local Government Area, saw troops overwhelming the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them into retreat. A subsequent aggressive pursuit along escape routes yielded significant recoveries of arms, explosives, and logistics equipment abandoned by the fleeing insurgents.

Recovered items include Rocket-Propelled Grenade launch tubes, multiple RPG warheads, several Improvised Explosive Devices, two motorcycles, battery chargers, and various personal effects.

Lieutenant Colonel Osoba confirmed that all troops emerged from the operation unharmed, emphasising that the success demonstrates the Joint Task Force North West’s unwavering commitment to dismantling terrorist networks across the region.

“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in sustaining offensive pressure on these criminal elements, denying them freedom of action and disrupting their nefarious activities to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens,” he affirmed.
