OGBOMOSO: GUNMEN ATTACK IMMIGRATION OFFICE, DISARM OFFICERS

Suspected armed men reportedly carried out a night attack on the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) office in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday, making away with firearms belonging to officers on duty.

The incident was said to have occurred around 10pm at the immigration facility along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin highway, close to the NNPC filling station.

Sources said the attackers invaded the premises while activities were still ongoing around the nearby Ayanyan Cattle Market, a busy commercial hub in the area.

The armed men were reportedly able to overpower officers stationed at the facility before dispossessing them of their service weapons. The exact number of firearms taken has not yet been confirmed.

Security authorities have yet to provide full details of the incident, including whether any officer sustained injuries or if there were casualties.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said he had not yet been officially briefed on the development.

“I have not been briefed on the incident at this time. I will provide updates as soon as the necessary information becomes available,” he said.

As of press time, neither the Nigeria Immigration Service nor other security agencies had issued an official statement on the attack or confirmed the identity of the assailants.
