Nigerian music producer and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has shared a piece of financial advice with young people, urging them to make wise investments with the money they earn while they are still young.
The music executive reflected on how he initially spent his earnings from music on luxury experiences, including buying expensive bottles of champagne and partying at nightclubs.
According to him, he eventually realised the importance of putting his money into profitable ventures rather than spending it all on enjoyment.
Don Jazzy explained that he changed his spending habits and began investing in discovering and signing new musical talents, a decision he says has paid off significantly.
Sharing his experience, he said:
“It’s better to find something lucrative to do with the funds that come in when you’re young. At first, I spent the money I got from music on bottles of champagne and went clubbing. But, I got myself together and invested in signing new artistes. Now I don’t have to work ever again.”
His remarks have sparked conversations about financial discipline, wealth creation and the importance of investing early.
