‘No plans for Nigeria’ – Onanuga mocks NDC over ‘missing’ manifesto

Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress,(NDC) saying the party has yet to present a clear vision or manifesto for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections

Onanuga, in a statement issued on Friday, described the NDC as “a camp for the politically displaced and desperate,” while questioning its preparedness to lead the country.

The presidential aide’s remarks come amid growing political attention surrounding the NDC following the reported defection of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano state from the African Democratic Congress to the party.

According to Onanuga, the NDC has so far failed to present any distinct ideological direction different from existing opposition parties.

“Like ADC, the NDC has no plan for Nigeria yet,” he stated.

He explained that he visited the party’s website on two occasions to review its policy direction and manifesto but was unable to access any document.

“‘No document found’ was the response I got each time I tried to download the manifesto,” he said.

Onanuga further criticised the party for allegedly speaking about ideological politics without presenting a detailed roadmap since securing court registration in February.

He added that the only visible policy direction on the website consists of six policy points, which he described as vague and insufficient to qualify as substantive pillars for governance.

The presidential aide also took a swipe at Obi, saying the policy ideas resembled “platitudes” the former Anambra governor had repeated over the years.

Despite the criticism, Onanuga said he remained interested in seeing the NDC eventually unveil its vision and mission for the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
