The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the mob killing of two men in Bunga Hamlet, Dagu Ward of Warji Local Government Area of the state.
According to the command, the incident occurred on May 7, 2026, at about 11:50am after a distress call was received concerning a mob attack that resulted in the death of Kabiru Idris, 30, and Ibrahim Samaila Danliti, 40, both from Gabanga Village in Warji LGA.
spokesperson of the Command, Nafiu Habib in a statement issued on Saturday said the victims were riding on a motorcycle when they were allegedly chased by a mob from Ningi LGA shouting, “thieves, thieves” before they were intercepted at Bunga Hamlet and severely beaten until they became unconscious.
Police operatives reportedly rushed the victims to the General Hospital, Warji, where they were later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The command disclosed that detectives, acting on intelligence arrested three suspects identified as Samaila Turawa of Gwada, Danbaba Haruna of Gwada, and Ubale Mai Kaji of Ningi for their alleged involvement in the incident.
According to the police, the suspects are currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi and are assisting investigators, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the mob.
Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, described the act as barbaric and ordered a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings.
He reiterated that no individual or group has the right to take the law into their hands by unlawfully taking another person’s life.
The command added that normalcy had been restored in the area, while patrols and community engagement had been intensified to prevent a recurrence.
The spokesperson stated that all those involved in the unlawful act would be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
