According to TMZ, the actress suffered an asthma attack on Friday that resulted in brain damage. She was subsequently placed on life support while her family remained by her side.

After doctors assessed her condition, her family ultimately made the difficult decision to remove her from life support on Tuesday night.

Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced her death on Facebook the following day.

Before her death, Knowings was remembered by many viewers as one of the familiar faces of Nickelodeon’s All That, a sketch comedy programme that became a major part of the childhood years of many young viewers in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

She joined the show’s main cast in 1997 and remained on the programme for three seasons, appearing between 1997 and 2001. She joined during the show’s fourth season alongside Leon Frierson and Danny Tamborelli.

Knowings’ entry into television came through the pilot for And Now This, a sketch comedy project produced by Rosie O’Donnell. Her performance eventually led to her becoming part of the All That cast.

During her time on the series, she worked alongside several young performers who would go on to become major names in entertainment, including Amanda Bynes, Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Lori Beth Denberg and Josh Server.

All That premiered on Nickelodeon in 1994 and became one of the network’s most recognisable programmes. The sketch comedy series was often regarded as a children’s version of Saturday Night Live and became a launching pad for several performers who later built successful careers in entertainment.

Among those who appeared on the programme were Nick Cannon and Gabriel Iglesias, while Jamie Lynn Spears was also part of the show’s later cast.

Knowings eventually returned to All That as a guest star during its 10th season, reconnecting with the programme that had played an important role in her early career.

Beyond Nickelodeon, Knowings also worked with her twin brother, Chris Knowings. The siblings appeared together in three episodes of Sesame Street during their careers.
