A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after sharing how her husband defended her when one of his friends questioned why another woman was helping with laundry at their home.
The woman, who narrated the experience on social media, explained that she had just recovered from an illness and decided to pay someone to assist her with washing clothes.
However, the situation reportedly turned awkward after her husband arrived home with a friend and they both met the helper washing clothes.
According to her, she quietly excused herself to the bedroom while the men stayed in the sitting room.
Moments later, she overheard the friend criticising the arrangement and suggesting that a wife should handle such chores herself.
Sharing the story online, she wrote: “I paid a woman to come help me wash clothes after I just recovered from a sickness. My husband came home with one of his friends that day to pick something up and they met the woman washing.
“I went to my room and left them in the sitting room and I heard the friend telling him ‘why are you allowing someone come wash clothes for your wife, can’t she wash it, my wife can’t try that’.
“My husband just replied him ‘that’s why God gave everyone their wives’. No long talk.
“My Bobo sabi response d!e, he no allow am come our house again since that day. Amebo oshi, I no know wetin concern him.”
Her husband’s calm response has since attracted praise from many social media users, with several people commending him for defending his wife and respecting her health condition.
Others also criticised the friend for attempting to interfere in another couple’s private arrangement, arguing that every family should be free to decide what works best for them.
