A married woman at the centre of a viral NYSC sex scandal has broken her silence, giving a detailed account of how she was allegedly framed with AI-generated photos and videos.
The woman said the incident happened in 2022 after she was posted to Ekiti State for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
She explained that she became friends with a male corps member at the orientation camp but later rejected his romantic advances because she was married.
How the controversy started
According to the woman, she is naturally outgoing and enjoys making friends with both men and women.
She said the male corps member began showing unusual interest in her shortly after they met.
“Anywhere I am, I was seen there. If I want to buy something, he’s there paying for me,” she said.
The woman explained that she initially did not suspect anything because she saw his gestures as ordinary acts of friendship.
“He started opening up to me, telling me about his relationships. His intentions were to get close to me,” she said.
She added that he frequently visited her hostel and spent time talking with her.
According to her, she eventually developed sympathy for him because of the personal issues he shared with her.
However, she said the situation changed when he asked her to date him.
“One day, he asked me to date him. I politely turned this guy down. I told him I’m a married woman,” she recalled.
She alleged that the man became angry after she rejected him.
“He didn’t take it lightly. He got angry. If you’re married, he said, why don’t you wear your wedding ring? He didn’t really believe me,” she said.
The woman said she subsequently decided to cut off communication with him.
“I stopped talking to him. I stopped being his friend. I stopped picking his call,” she said.
‘This guy got so obsessed with me’
According to her, the man’s behaviour allegedly became more disturbing after she ended their friendship.
“Then this guy got so obsessed with me. Everywhere I turn, he’s there,” she alleged.
She said she eventually noticed that the man was regularly standing outside her hostel window.
“That’s when I started realising that this guy was always standing outside my window. My roommates were worried. They weren’t comfortable with him anymore,” she said.
She eventually agreed to speak with him to explain why they could no longer continue their friendship.
However, she alleged that the man suddenly hugged her during the conversation.
“This guy hugged me. It came as a shock. I didn’t see it coming,” she said.
According to her, she attempted to push him away when some other men arrived and began taking photographs and recording videos.
“In the process of me trying to push him away, some other guys came and snapped us. They took pictures of us and videos of us,” she alleged.
She said she later realised that the men were allegedly friends of the man she had rejected.
‘He used AI’
The woman said the incident took another turn later that night when she received a photograph allegedly showing her kissing the man.
“They sent me a picture of I and him kissing. Conveniently, his face was not showing. He used AI,” she alleged.
She said she was still trying to understand what was happening when another video was sent to her.
“While I was still processing what was going on, he sent a video of us kissing. AI videos,” she said.
According to her, the man subsequently threatened to use the alleged materials against her.
“He called me on the phone and said, ‘If I have you, I will send you out of this camp,’” she alleged.
She said she tried contacting her husband but could not get through to him.
“I tried calling my husband that evening, but his number wasn’t moving through,” she said.
She then decided to report the matter to her camp coordinator the following morning.
‘The first message I got was a query’
The woman said she was shocked when she woke up the following morning and received a query from the camp authorities.
“By morning, when I woke up, the first message I got on my phone was a query from my camp coordinator,” she said.
According to her, the query accused her of being caught having sex with another person.
“They asked me to give a written reply to the allegations that I was caught with someone last night having sex,” she said.
She said she was given one hour to respond.
“I was shocked. They gave me one hour to reply this message,” she recalled.
The woman said she submitted her response and explained everything she knew about the incident.
She was subsequently invited to appear before the disciplinary panel at the orientation camp.
According to her, the panel included the camp director, camp commandant, security officials, platoon leaders and a lawyer assigned to represent her.
Alleged accuser appeared as witness
The woman said the man she accused of setting her up was later brought before the panel as a witness.
“They brought in witnesses. Guess who was the witness? This guy,” she said.
She claimed the lawyer assigned to her believed her account but was unable to prevent the disciplinary action.
“The lawyer that was assigned to me believed my case, that I was innocent. But they’re still corps members and she couldn’t really defend me,” she said.
The woman said she was eventually disciplined and sent out of the orientation camp.
However, she said the disciplinary action was only the beginning of the ordeal.
‘My husband said, I believe you’
According to her, NYSC officials contacted her husband about the allegations.
“They didn’t even let me inform him myself. They called my husband and informed him,” she said.
She said her husband later called her and asked a simple question.
“My husband called me on the phone and asked me one question. ‘Did you do it?’ And I said no,” she recalled.
According to her, his response gave her the strength to continue fighting the case.
“And he said, ‘I believe you.’ That was everything I needed to hear,” she said.
“That was what gave me the strength to fight my case,” she added.
Case reportedly reopened in Abuja
The woman said her husband hired a lawyer and they escalated the matter to the NYSC Director-General in Abuja.
“My husband took a lawyer. We transferred our case to the Director-General in Abuja and he reopened the case,” she said.
She added that a technology team was subsequently engaged to examine the photographs and videos that had been used against her.
“After I was disgraced, we got a good tech team that helped us to trace the authenticity of the video,” she said.
According to her, the technical examination allegedly found that the materials had been manipulated using AI.
“Immediately they put these videos and pictures in, it showed 98 per cent AI,” she claimed.
She said NYSC officials subsequently apologised and allowed her to continue her service.
“The NYSC officials apologised to me and I was asked to continue my service,” she said.
‘The guy was not punished satisfactorily’
Despite the outcome, the woman said she was disappointed with the punishment allegedly handed to the man she accused of framing her.
“The painful part of all of this was the guy that set me up was not punished satisfactorily,” she said.
“They only gave him one month extension. Just one month,” she added.
The woman said her experience had taught her important lessons about relationships and boundaries.
Woman issues warning
Reflecting on the incident, she advised people to be more careful about accepting gifts and becoming overly close to members of the opposite sex.
“The point of this story is be careful who you receive gifts from, especially married women,” she warned.
She added, “Some people can go under rejection. So it’s better not to even get yourself involved with friends of the opposite sex because most times it doesn’t really end well.”
The woman also expressed gratitude to her husband for standing by her throughout the difficult period.
“I’m so fortunate that I have a husband that believes in me and trusts me. Otherwise my case would have been sorry,” she said.
